INTRODUCTION - CAMP BYTES
Camp leadership is full of movement, noise, and responsibility.
But God often does His best work in the quieter moments we almost miss.
Camp Bytes is a place to pause, reflect, and notice those moments.
Below the Surface
Most of what we do as camp directors’ lives on the surface.
Programs to plan.
Staff to hire.
Budgets to manage.
Problems to solve.
It’s constant.
It’s necessary.
And if we’re honest—it can take everything we’ve got.
And if we’re not careful… it’s where we stay.
We live there.
We lead there.
We measure success there.
But there’s another place.
Not as loud.
Not as urgent.
And far easier to ignore.
A place below the surface.
And down there, things feel different.
We remember why we do what we do,
We reconnect with what actually matters.
We hear the questions we’ve been too busy to ask.
It’s where our passion lives.
It’s where things start to make sense again.
Maybe it’s even where God does His best work.
The challenge is simple—but not easy:
Don’t let the demands of the surface keep you there.
Even Elijah—busy, driven, doing the work of God—
missed it for a time.
He looked for God in the wind, the earthquake, the fire…
…and almost missed Him in the quiet.
If you never step below the surface, you’ll forget why the surface matters.
